My name is Wayne Hancock here’s a little info about me. I’ve been a network engineer for over 20 years, the last 8 of which have been working for an Oil and Gas Production company. I’m responsible for all field communications including, transporting the data at each well site / tank battery back to our corporate data center. We have our own towers and use Point to Multi Point (PtMP) Ethernet radio’s through out our production environment. Our coverage area is just over 10,000 Square Miles. We have around 1,800 sites with just under 2,000 MikroTik devices deployed in router/switch/wireless use cases, ~2,700 Motorola/Cambium PMP 100 Series Radio’s.
Previous to my current job, I worked 7 years for General Dynamics doing Air Force Base whole network upgrades with the CITS program. As lead engineer, I would lead a team surveying 200 to 300+ buildings, doing a vendor selection at each base, then designing, staging in our labs, and deploying all the routers/switches necessary to meet Air Force requirements.
