About

My Story

I grew up knowing what I wanted to do, work with technology.  Repairing old stereo equipment as a kid, getting my first computer (Commodore 64), I always knew I would be working with Tech.  Computers, then Dial Up networking/Bulletin Board Services (BBS’s) opened my eyes to linked or networked computers.  In 1991 @ College, there were no options for networking degrees, my options were Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.  While attending college……

2018-Present
  • Oversee the architecture and operation of the Network Integration Lab staging area for Air Force Network configuration/validation
  • Designed, supported, and reviewed 29 individual base’s network topologies to support new equipment requirements for the Air Force Base Information Transport Infrastructure (BITI) 2018 project to upgrade Base Area Networks
  • Designed new IP/VLAN structures for 29 Air Force and National Guard bases for BITI 2018 Project.
  • Review, verify and redesign enterprise-level base area networks to support future growth and network transitions according to industry standards via Technical Requirement Document (TRD) and Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) directives
  • Simplify and automate manual processes via scripting and templated configuration systems

  • Lead Architect and manager of all field communications for SCADA data collection and field secured Wi-Fi
  • Co-designer of Data Center core routers/switches as well as distribution systems for corporate offices
  • Administrator for company-wide network monitoring and alerting via SolarWinds Orion suite of tools including NPM (Network Performance Monitor), SAM (Software & Application Monitoring), NTA (NetFlow Traffic Analysis), and NCM (Network Configuration Manager).  Monitored 18,500+ nodes (9+ years exp)
  • Developed field SCADA security system, separating corporate users from SCADA networks.  (Palo Alto)
  • Developed SandRidge Field Communications budget to be able to better track and allocate spending.
  • Directed field personnel to preform network equipment installation and troubleshooting; provide Tier 3 troubleshooting escalation assistance to resolve wireless/network/server issues in the field
  • Worked closely with business units to ensure network connectivity prior to well first flows
  • Evaluated project proposals from multiple vendors, presenting a quantitative vendor selection to the business as well as an implementation plan.  Examples: Tower construction bids, VoIP phone solutions, Network equipment
  • Developed and provide network training for all field network technicians to prepare them for working with corporate SCADA Systems
  • Established field network documentation standards, creating custom stencils in Visio to assist in the creation of accurate documentation
  • Designed, implemented, and maintain over 2,900 wireless devices utilizing Motorola/Cambium network equipment
  • Designed and administrated the Aruba Networks Wireless controllers and access points companywide (1200+ Access Points) for both Corporate and Field use
